Foundations of Public Service
This course is organized around the notion that in order to understand and apply the skills of public administration and the systems within which administrators work, it is essential to understand the dynamics of public administration within the larger political, economic and social environment. The course is intended as a broad introduction to the study and practice of public administration. The course’s content covers the development and the environment of public administration (especially in the U.S.), the relationship between government and citizens, and the role of the public service practitioner in a democratic society.
