Health Care Finance
This course is to introduce students to the principles, concepts, and analytical tools of health care financial management to include: principles of accounting, financial statements analysis, commonly used health care financial ratios/metrics, budgeting, capitalization, cost allocation, program performance evaluation, reimbursement methodologies and processes, compliance and regulatory issues, and the impact of varying reimbursement methodologies on health care practice and service delivery. Students will learn how to use spreadsheets to design, prepare, and manage health care budgets. Students will gain an understanding of effective health care finance and accounting processes and the ways used to present operational and strategic financial information to organization’s stakeholders.
