Advanced Research Design
The broad purpose of the course is to prepare you for the dissertation and the specific objective is to complete a dissertation proposal draft by the end of the semester. It need not be ready for defense before your supervisory committee; the point is to consider the issues involved in the dissertation research and practice drafting an appropriate proposal. The course asks you to think systematically about a major research project. In this course, the professor's role is not to impose a vision of content or methodology, but to provide a framework of accepted academic practice within which you can construct your own project.
