We Are Steubenville
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and the community are invited to attend a documentary theater performance that will tell the tragic story about the first rape to be live tweeted in American. The documentary theater performance will take attendees through the events that took place at a high school football party in Steubenville, Ohio on August of 2012.
The performance will feature UNO students in the Department of Theatre, from the UNO College of Fine Arts and Media (CFAM).
Save the Date
Steubenville will feature the main theatre performance on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at 7:30 P.M., in the UNO College of Fine Arts and Media (CFAM) Theatre. The event is free to attend.
Steubenville work was developed by Eleanor Bishop, written with Dan Giles, Savannah Reich & Rachel Abrams.
The main event is a public reading of the Steubenville trial transcript, with student actors from your school standing in for the lawyers, the court, and the witnesses. Also included are documentary interviews with students that reflect on sexual empowerment, consent, and feminism (www.wearesteubenville.com, 2016).
