New Assistant Directors to Join the UNO Service Learning Academy
The UNO Service Learning Academy welcomes two new full-time staff and Assistant Directors, Susan and Olajide.

Omaha, NE – The UNO Service Learning Academy is thrilled to announce and welcome its new team members to the UNO campus community.
Susan Wallis
Assistant Director for Faculty Engagement, Strategic Initiatives, and AssessmentSusan says, "As a Maverick myself, I've always seen UNO as an integral part of Omaha, our metropolitan university, and at the heart of any metropolitan university is service. I am honored and humbled to join a team who make that work possible through meaningful service learning projects by utilizing rigorous academic practices and asset-based community engagement."
About Susan
Susan received her BA in Social Work from San Jose State University and Master of Social Work from UNO. She has served as a family specialist, therapist, and hospital-based social worker. Susan was also a substitute k-8 teacher and adjunct instructor at Creighton University. She served as a Community Development Manager and Senior Manager of Advocacy for Rural and Underserved populations for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was a former GA in the SLA and Education Director for the Anti-Defamation League, where she most recently served as the Assistant Education Director.
Olajide Cooper
Assistant Director for External Partnerships, Student Engagement, and Pipeline Programs
Olajide says, "During the interview process, I was so inspired while listening to all the incredible things happening UNO. I can't wait to use my skills as an educator, community advocate, and a lifelong learner to connect the talent at UNO with our dynamic community. I am thrilled and look forward to the opportunity in assisting with developing fruitful service learning projects with diverse community partners."
About Olajide
Olajide received her BS in Elementary Education and MA in Spanish Language teaching from UNO. She has served as a Fulbright Researcher for the Anne Coyne School for the Deaf in Leon, Nicaragua, Elementary Bilingual Educator for Omaha Public Schools, and most recently served as a Resource Navigator for the Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
