The lecture "Mapping Nebraska" from Micah Evans on Dec. 4, 2019, will accompany the exhibit “Mapping Nebraska: From Nations to Statehood” in Criss Library. In his talk, Evans will examine the history of Nebraska Territory and the State of Nebraska, told through maps covering the 1700s through the late 19th century. Evans is an Omaha native and map collector.
The exhibit uses maps to illustrate the numerous political, cultural, and technological shifts that occurred in the Nebraska region during the 18th and 19th centuries. The maps offer a visual exploration of the varied histories, providing a snapshot of the impact these changes had on Native Nations, European settlers, and the natural landscape.
