Distinguished Service Award Winners

The UNO Library Friends group hosted their annual Distinguished Service Awards event honoring library employees for exemplary service to UNO Libraries.

Each year the UNO Library Friends host an award ceremony, in which one full-time library employee and one student library employee are awarded for their exemplary dedication and service to UNO Libraries.

This year’s library staff employee recipient was Karen Jabens a Reference Associate. Karen is a knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced team member who helps make all staff, new and old, feel welcomed. She is a steady, positive, and thoughtful employee who brings excellence to every student interaction, whether it be in the classroom or during one-on-one consultations.

Quincey Epley was selected as this year’s student library employee Distinguished Service Award recipient. Quincey is reliable, hard-working, and fun to be around. Their knowledge, patience, compassion, and ability to put patrons at ease are an integral part of the student worker team. They are a true asset to the library, and a model student worker.

In addition to the Distinguished Service Award, one student is also selected to receive the Criss Library Academic Student Scholarship (CLASS). The scholarship recognizes and rewards library student workers for their service to Criss Library and supports their pursuit of educational goals.

This year’s CLASS scholarship recipient is Anne Ehlers a junior majoring in Kinesiology. In her application form Anna expressed how supported she has felt, in both her educational and career goals, in her time working at Criss Library. Additionally, learning about the resources within the library has allowed her to excel in her schoolwork and exams while working.
