Deirdre holds a bachelor’s degree in English composition and literature, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in history as well as a master’s degree in language teaching with an emphasis in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages). She has developed curriculum for English language learners at every level, from the very beginning of everyday communication to English Composition and research writing at the university level. She has worked in a variety of places, managing volunteer language clubs overseas, consulting with students and faculty at a university writing center, and teaching courses in US, European and world history. Her professional interests include input processing and language acquisition, project based learning, and teaching language through content-based and context-rich instruction.
