Background
Sher Jan Ahmadzai serves as Director of the Center for Afghanistan Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has served at various positions at the Office of the President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Prior to leaving Afghanistan, he served as Director Presidential Schedule at the Office of the President of Afghanistan responsible for managing President Karzai’s day to day schedule. During his at the palace, he was able to foster and maintain professional relations with government, community and political leaders across Afghanistan.
Mr. Ahmadzai had also worked on an assigned project at the Presidential Palace to provide the president with a detailed background information report on each member of the newly elected Parliament of Afghanistan in 2005. The report focused on information about education background, political and ethnic affiliations of the MPs.
Mr. Ahmadzai’s areas of specialty are Afghan Governance, and Tribal Dynamics and their impacts of public and their relationship with the government as an institution providing public services based on appropriate public policies. Mr. Ahmadzai has BA degree in International Studies and MA in Public Administration with Public Policy concentration.
He is also a regular contributor/commentator on BBC Pashto and Dari programs and as well as VOA Pashto and Dari services on various social, political and current affairs regarding Afghanistan and the U.S.
