It's a new semester, what now?
Enroll in Classes
You have finished the semester, and now it's time to get ready for the next one. Take a look at your DegreeWorks page to find out required courses for your area of study as well as course options to fulfill specific requirements.
You can find the link to your personal DegreeWorks through your MavLINK page. You can also enroll, add, drop, or swap classes by clicking on the Enrollment drop-down on your MavLINK page.
Make sure to contact your advisor for assistance. If you are using military benefits, make sure to contact the Military Education Benefits desk located in Financial Support and Scholarships for help.

Contact Your Advisor
It is important to stay in contact with your academic advisor throughout the school year.
We work closely with Academic Advisors across campus to ensure they are aware of particular needs associated with serving military-connected students. We encourage students to talk to their advisors regularly.
For more information about Academic Advising at UNO, contact the Maverick Advising Center (MAC).
Advisors can help you stay on track and choose courses that are the best fit for you. Make sure to mention you are using VA Education benefits when working with your advisor to choose courses.
Complete the FAFSA
Before each year of college, apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.
It is possible to stack different forms of financial aid with military benefits so apply early.
Remember to add UNO's School Code to your FAFSA: 002554

Get Your Textbooks
Find out what textbooks you need for your new classes by clicking My Classes under the Enrollment drop-down on your MavLINK page. If your books aren't listed there yet, make sure to keep checking back.
Some textbooks may be First Day Access, meaning they are online books you will have access to on your first day of class. These books are normally automatically charged to your student account.
Complete the Notification of Intent (NOI)
This step was completed the previous semester, but don't forget that this needs to be completed every semester to let UNO's Financial Support and Scholarships office know whether or not you plan to use benefits for the upcoming semester.
This should appear as a clickable link under My Important Messages on your MavLINK page. If you plan to use VA Education Benefits, mark "Yes."
Some students may have other forms of financial aid or want to reduce their course load and so choose to save their VA benefits for a later semester. In this case, students should mark "No, I do not plan to use benefits for the upcoming semester."
Don't see the link or can't remember if you did it? Click here as a secondary way to submit your NOI for the semester.
Ready to Graduate!
UNO has a to-do list of items you will need to complete before graduation. Make sure to talk to your advisor and follow the checklist.
In recognition of your graduation, the MCRC continues our long-standing practice of recognizing our military-connected graduates with an honor cord to wear at commencement. Veterans, current service members, and ROTC graduates will be recognized with a red-white-blue honor cord. Military family members will be recognized with a blue and silver honor cord.
Graduates can pick up graduation cords in person 2-3 weeks prior to graduation at the Military-Connected Resource Center front desk.
