Keynote Speakers
Jennifer Daskal, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Homeland Security Advisor | White House
Jennifer Daskal is the White House Deputy Homeland Security Advisor and Deputy Assistant to the President. Previously, she served in the Biden-Harris Administration as the Principal Deputy Legal Advisor and Special Assistant to the President.
Prior to joining the White House, Daskal worked for the Department of Homeland Security as the Acting General Counsel. From 2009 to 2011, she was counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for National Security at the Department of Justice.
Before joining the Department of Justice, Daskal worked as the senior counterterrorism counsel at Human Rights Watch, and was a staff attorney for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. Upon her graduation from Brown University, Daskal became a Marshall Scholar at Cambridge University, and later went to Harvard Law School.
Daskal is a globally recognized expert in cyber, national security, and immigration policy. She has been actively involved in discussions around law enforcement access to data across borders, helping to shape the domestic and international debate. She speaks at global conferences on cyber and tech policy and has published numerous op-eds in high-profile media outlets.
Nicholas Rasmussen, Counterterrorism Coordinator | Department of Homeland Security
Nicholas Rasmussen is DHS’s most senor official in charge of coordinating the department’s counterterrorism-related activities, including intelligence, planning, operational and policy matters, across DHS agencies.
A national security professional with more than 27 years in U.S. government service, Rasmussen held senior counterterrorism posts at the White House and in the U.S. Intelligence Community from 2001 to 2017. He was director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), leading more than 1,000 professionals across the Intelligence Community, federal government, and federal contractor workforce.
Most recently, Rasmussen served as the inaugural executive director of the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT), an organization charged with preventing terrorists from exploiting the online environment. He holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University and a master's degree from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.
