Bio
Matt Allen, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Management in the College of Business Administration and the head of measurement innovation at NCITE. He has over 15 years of experience as an industrial and organizational (I-O) psychology consultant, professor, and manager specializing in applied research and implementation of evidence-based solutions to meet organizations’ security and workforce development needs.
Prior to his current role, Allen was a program manager at HumRRO – a leading assessment firm. He has experience in the full range of the assessment development life cycle, including design, development, validation, and implementation. He has developed, validated, and implemented an array of assessment tools, ranging from high fidelity (e.g., assessment centers, simulations) to low fidelity (e.g., knowledge tests, personality) for clients in a variety of domains, such as the military, intelligence community, federal law enforcement, not-for-profits, and the private sector. He also previously served as a manager in an internal HR function within the intelligence community, overseeing multiple lines of business.
Allen has a track record of teaching, mentoring, and leading other professionals to achieve organizational objectives and communicating in both written and oral formats to stakeholders at all levels. He is an active researcher with multiple publications and presentations at professional conferences in areas ranging from cybersecurity, insider threat, leadership, individual difference assessment, and organizational research methods. Since joining NCITE, Allen has applied his measurement and strategic human capital management experience to address key questions in counterterrorism, such as the evaluation of prevention programs and insider threat management. Allen has also been an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University and Georgetown University, teaching organizational research methods.
