Bio
Noah Turner is a research associate at the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center and the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. His research focuses on the intersection of extremism, crime, and the criminal justice system. He earned his Ph.D. from the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University in 2024.At NCITE, Turner supports a project developing a handbook for managing and supporting the exit of federally incarcerated extremists back into the community. He is also actively involved in another project evaluating the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) Grant Program, and recently led a research project assessing the applicability of suspicious activity reporting (SAR) behaviors to non-ideological violence.
In addition to his work on federally funded research projects, Turner maintains an active research agenda focused on other pressing national security issues. To date, he has published 11 peer-reviewed articles on topics related to violent extremism, crime prevention, and cyberterrorism in leading academic journals including Criminology and Public Policy, the Annual Review of Criminology, Crime & Delinquency, and Terrorism & Political Violence.
