Nebraska Small Businesses Honored for Excellence at Statewide Awards Ceremony
Three businesses were selected for their contributions to the Nebraska economy at the 2021 Nebraska Business Development Awards Luncheon.

Omaha, Nebraska – Omaha, Neb. — Three outstanding Nebraska businesses have been recognized by the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) at this year’s 2021 NBDC Business Awards. The awards recognize NBDC clients who demonstrated business success through job creation and sustainability, sales growth, successful government contracting, innovation in product or service offerings, and other business achievements. The businesses being honored include:
- Appsky, Omaha, Champion of Small Business
- Birds Eye Robotics, Herman, Innovation Business of the Year
- Fuller Construction, Chadron, Government Contractor of the Year
Appsky, based in Omaha, Neb., is an agency specializing in design, software, and consulting. Founded by Taylor Korensky, the team at Appsky works directly with clients to develop custom software that is affordable and accessible.
Birds Eye Robotics, based in Herman, Neb., was founded by Scott Niewohner. The company takes an innovative approach to supporting poultry farmers through their autonomous robotic solutions, which can navigate broiler houses with 20,000+ birds, commercial feeders, water lines, and migration fences.
Fuller Construction, based in Chadron, Neb., provides construction services to customers in Northwest Nebraska and surrounding areas. Over the past 63 years, Fuller Construction has completed nearly 5,000 projects, including: residential, commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, and government projects.
“It is an honor to come together to celebrate these extraordinary businesses and share their stories,” said Catherine Lang, state director at NBDC. “Their accomplishments and growth over the last year are quite impressive. They are wonderful examples of how businesses are the backbone of Nebraska – creating jobs, building strong communities, and supporting the Nebraska economy.”
The awards were presented at a ceremony on Monday, March 14, at the AKRS Champion’s Club in Lincoln, Neb. Nebraska State Senator Matt Williams provided the keynote remarks.
