Omaha – It was a special year for UNO in 2013 with countless events, achievements, special guest visits and national recognitions for students, faculty, staff and alumni.
The year 2013 was a record year for UNO enrollment as the largest incoming undergraduate class in history enrolled in classes for the fall semester. Across all grade levels, including transfer students, UNO added 3,251 students and increased its overall enrollment by 3 percent to 15,227.
“I believe we have exceeded even our own lofty expectations,” said Chancellor John Christensen. “The quality of education these 15,000-plus enrollees will have as UNO students is second only to the quality of accomplishments they will have as UNO alumni. The impact of earning a bachelor’s degree or a graduate degree will give these UNO students an edge in a very competitive job market.”
In addition to the largest incoming class, UNO made major strides in important areas like graduate students, which increased 9.1 percent to 2,892 enrollees; international students, which increased 4.3 percent to 732 enrollees; and nonresident students, which increased 4.1 percent to 1,928 total enrollees.
The large increase in students is key to UNO's goal of having 20,000 enrollees by the year 2020.
