More Than 2,000 Students to Move In

OMAHA – The first signs of a new school year at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will be clear to see on Sunday, Aug. 16, as the first group of students move into their on-campus housing units.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first 960 students who will be living on campus for the 2015-2016 school year will move in to their new homes at Scott Court and Scott Village on UNO’s Pacific Campus.
A remaining 1,120 beds will be filled between Wednesday, Aug. 19, and Saturday, Aug. 22, before classes begin on Monday, Aug. 24.

Volunteers from across campus will assist students and their families during each of the move in dates and times.
During move in, students and parents will receive information about UNO and how to become involved in the on-campus community. One of the first opportunities will be UNO’s signature welcome-back event, Durango Days, which features an exciting lineup of first-week activities.
This year marks the beginning of a new gender-inclusiveness policy for UNO housing where those who do not identify with their birth gender will be partnered with allies and supporters.
UNO opened its first apartment-style housing unit in 1999 with the building of University Village. Scott Hall began serving UNO students in 2000 followed soon after Scott Village opening in 2003, Maverick Village in 2008 and Scott Court opening in 2011.
A new mixed-use housing facility is scheduled to open on the Pacific campus in time for the 2017-2018 school year.
