UNO's Islamic Studies Program is hosting alum and Fulbright Scholarship recipient Shelby Andersen-Holt on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, from noon to 1 P.M., in 209 CEC.
Shelby had the opportunity to teach English in Turkey on a Fulbright scholarship. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The ten months she spent teaching at Erciyes University in Kayseri, Turkey were an eventful time for Turkey and the wider region. She was able to learn a great deal while also having the chance to apply skills and knowledge acquired through the Islamic Studies Minor and her other coursework at UNO. The history, politics, and people of Turkey have been and will remain a passion for Shelby, and she hopes to inspire others to the same passion.
