Dear UNO Community:
We have received a significant amount of interest and enthusiasm in welcoming President Obama to our campus this week. In order to ensure that everyone who wants to can be part of this very historic event, classes will not be held this Wednesday, Jan. 13.
Previously designated staff, and the following facilities and services staff, will report to work and operate normal hours:
- Bookstore
- Child Care Center
- Community Engagement Center
- Criss Library
- Food options, including Student Center Food Court, Library Cafe, MavRec Cafe and Scott Dining Hall
- KVNO
- HPER Building
- Testing Center
All other areas of campus are closed. Any staff not mentioned in the above list do not need to report to work on Wednesday, Jan. 13.
Parking and Transportation
Due to security reasons, all parking lots immediately surrounding Baxter Arena will be closed. UNO parking lots and shuttles, as well as Metro Transit Omaha, will help support the event.
Ticket Distribution
All UNO tickets for President Obama’s upcoming visit have been claimed.
UNO ticket distribution will no longer continue Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Those who were able to secure a ticket for this historic event should keep reading for important event and parking information.
This will be the first time UNO welcomes a sitting president to our campus. As such, we feel suspending classes to accommodate thousands of visitors, as well as allowing our students, faculty and staff the opportunity to take advantage of this rare opportunity, is an appropriate way to mark the occasion.
