Nebraska nonprofit organizations and University of Nebraska groups addressing critical community needs at the local or state level are invited to submit funding ideas to Women Investing in Nebraska (WIN) for the group’s 2016 grant awards.
For information about how to submit a letter of inquiry, go to womeninvestinginnebraska.org. Submission deadline is Feb. 19, 2016.
WIN will award two equal grants for projects addressing critical community needs in Nebraska. One grant will be awarded to a Nebraska charitable organization, and another grant will be awarded to an organization or group directly affiliated with any campus of the University of Nebraska.
Qualifying Nebraska organizations must be designated as nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charities. Organizations and groups affiliated with the University of Nebraska may also submit inquiries. Applicants submitting an inquiry by Feb. 19 will be notified about eligibility to submit a formal grant proposal.
Last year WIN awarded two grants of $53,700 each. Tabitha received a grant for its EngAGE program, which provides care coordination for elders who are especially at risk because of limited income, chronic or emergent health conditions, or psychosocial concerns. Another grant was awarded to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Primarily Math Program, which boosts teachers’ knowledge of mathematics and improves the teaching of mathematics in Nebraska elementary schools.
WIN was established in 2011 by the University of Nebraska Foundation and its women in philanthropy committee to offer a collaborative way for women to be involved in local philanthropy. Members’ annual gifts are combined to make the grants to the two organizations selected by the membership from proposals submitted. Since 2011, WIN has awarded more than $550,000 to worthy Nebraska projects.
