Faculty Senate/Staff Advisory Council 2016 Banquet Highlights
The Employee of the Year Award, Spirit of Service Award, and Staff Advisory Council Recognition Award recipients were recognized at the dinner Wednesday, April 27.
On Wednesday, April 27, 2016, the Faculty Senate and Staff Advisory Council held it’s annual banquet.
During the dinner, this year’s Employee of the Year Award, Spirit of Service Award, and Staff Advisory Council Recognition Award recipients were recognized.

SPIRIT OF SERVICE AWARD
Marie Lee was recognized with the Spirit of Service Award at the Faculty Senate/Staff Advisory Council Banquet for her outstanding customer service, friendly personality, and abundance of knowledge.
Her nominators wrote, “Marie embodies the UNO spirit through her willingness and readiness to help and welcome new faculty and staff. With her 25 years of experience, it is hard to find someone who has not been helped or gone to her for her invaluable knowledge. Her warm and loving personality is infectious and she balances creating an energetic and inviting environment with getting work accomplished.”
They continued, “When I started working here, Marie taught me much more than the basics I needed to know for the administrative part of my job. She went out of her way to make sure I knew the people and processes that would make my tasks work out the best and most efficiently. She also welcomed me and showed me the friendship, warmth, and spirit that made me want to be a part of the UNO family.”

About the Spirit of Service Award
The Spirit of Service Award recognizes an Office/Service employee who provides services that strengthen the community and improve the lives of others. The recipient of this award demonstrates a commitment to UNO by helping students, furthering his/her own education, and/or working toward advancement.
STAFF ADVISORY COUNCIL RECOGNITION AWARD
Jean Phillips was honored with the Staff Advisory Council Recognition Award at the Faculty Senate/Staff Advisory Council Banquet. Jean’s nominator described her as a hard worker who consistently goes out of her way to be helpful.
He wrote, “My interactions with Jean leave me impressed with her ability to maintain a positive attitude regardless of the topic or turnaround time on requests. I’m aware that she carries a heavy workload in her job, but she is quick to offer assistance in a cheerful way whenever contacted for help. Such a positive attitude along with extreme competence at her job makes her a good representative of UNO when communicating with fellow faculty/staff or with other stakeholders like parents and students.”

About the Staff Advisory Council Recognition Award
The Staff Advisory Council Recognition Award recognizes an employee who provides exemplary support to UNO staff members. The nomination form for this award is available each spring, and all faculty and staff are invited to submit nominations.
EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
Eric Wingert was named Employee of the Year at the Faculty Senate/Staff Advisory Council Banquet. His outstanding job performance, flexibility, and exceptional leadership skills helped earn him the award.
His nominators wrote, “Eric is extremely well-respected by the campus community and works very hard to move the level of customer service of our constituents forward. Eric is constantly working with NeSIS and UNO Information Services to find solutions to provide service in a more efficient and sustainable manner.”
