Do you play a musical instrument, spin a baton, or have interest in color guard? If so, then I would like to take this opportunity to give you some information about the Athletic Bands at UNO - the Marching Mavericks and the Maverick Machine Pep Band. The athletic bands have a strong tradition of excellence, a rooted sense of community, and sincere love of performing.
All students that participate in the UNO Athletic Bands receive scholarships and/ or cash stipends!
The Marching Mavericks have been entrenched in university life and culture for close to 100 years. The group performs across the region at UNO athletic events, in exhibition at local and regional marching band competitions, and in celebrations, festivals, and concerts around the United States. Members of the Marching Mavericks have performed at the Holland Center for the Performing Arts, major community, events, parades (including for a Presidential inauguration), and the new Midtown Crossing outdoor performance space in downtown Omaha.
All students who participate in the Marching Mavericks receive s $250 scholarship, and there is no audition to participate! No prior experience in marching band is required and membership is open to all majors across campus.
