UNO students are helping children in low-income families by holding a donation drive to benefit families who receive assistance from Completely KIDS.
Each year UNO’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chooses a local nonprofit and organizes a donation drive. This year faculty advisor Karen Weber and the PRSSA executive board, chose Completely KIDS.
“UNO PRSSA has a long tradition of serving children in our community,” Weber said. “Our members love working with nonprofits that truly need our help.”
Completely KIDS seeks to help families living in poverty or low-income situations by providing supportive services, physical and mental health services, homework and mentoring assistance, and food through the Weekend Food Program.
Students are asking UNO and the Omaha community for assistance in helping make this a successful drive.
Requested donation items include:
- New or gently used children’s coats
- Individual servings of food (cereals, oatmeal, soups, Chef Boyardee pasta, Jell-O, vegetables, etc.)
- School supplies
- Arts and crafts supplies
- Sporting equipment
- Books, puzzles and games
The donation drive will run from November 4 - December 2.
