Omaha Men's Soccer Advances to Summit League Championship Game

OMAVS.com – The Omaha men’s soccer team advanced to the Summit League title game for the first time in program history after defeating Eastern Illinois, 3-1, on Thursday afternoon at CIBER Field in Denver, Colo.
With the win, the Mavericks improved to 10-4-4 on the season, while the Panthers end their season at 5-12-1.
Alihodzic, the Summit League’s Offensive Player of the Year, scored his ninth goal of the season off a free kick from 25 yards out.
Ibisevic extended Omaha’s first half lead over the Panthers to 2-0 when he headed home a cross from Mark Moulton.
Noor Hamadi’s header in the 62nd minute put the Mavericks ahead, 3-0.
Eastern Illinois was able to get on the scoreboard in the 74th minute. Jonathan Huerta’s free kick from 25 yards out beat Omaha goalkeeper Joseph Ghitis to make the score 3-1.
