OMAHA – On Tuesday, Dec. 13, University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Chancellor John Christensen joined an exclusive group of administrators honored for their commitment to education in the Midwest.
During a luncheon at the 2016 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VI conference in Chicago, Christensen was awarded the Chief Executive Leadership Award, which honors outstanding leadership and service in support of education as well as contributions to campuses and communities.
Christensen joins just 13 other university chancellors and presidents from the Midwest region (including Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming) who have received the award since it was created in 2004.
The award was presented to Christensen in his final year as Chancellor at UNO. He will retire at the end of the 2016-2017 academic year after 10 years as chancellor and more than 40 years as a UNO educator and administrator.
CASE, a professional association serving educational institutions and the advancement professionals who work on their behalf, was formed in 1974 and consists of eight distinct regional districts across the United States.
