The YMCA of Greater Omaha has been part of the community a pretty long time – even longer than Nebraska has been a state. The YMCA’s records were donated to UNO Libraries’ Archives & Special Collections in early 2015. Since then, staff and volunteers have been arranging, describing, and digitizing portions of the collection to help celebrate the YMCA’s sesquicentennial in 2016.
Now available to the public digitally are:
- The first group of photographs from 1868 through the 21st century
- Newsletters from the 1890s
- A selection of scrapbooks from the early 20th century
The celebration has given much attention to the collection and pieces can be found on display in the exhibit “YMCA of Greater Omaha: 150 Years of Providing First” at the Durham Museum through January 8, 2017.
