Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the Best Places to Work in Omaha® initiative?
The Best Places to Work in Omaha initiative is an annual program created by Baird Holm LLP and administered by Quantum workplace, which provides the opportunity for local employers of all sizes to learn more about the engagement and satisfaction of their employees through an online employee survey.
UNO last participated in the survey in 2015. The Office of Human Resources shared the results with campus, and results were incorporated into various action plans across campus at the unit level.
More information about the survey can be found at Best Places to Work.
Is this a competition?
Yes. Organizations with 25 or more employees will be entered into a competition with other local employers to be recognized as one of the "Best Places to Work in Omaha." The top five organizations within two categories (25-200 employees; more than 200 employees) will be selected based on their employees' responses. However, the purpose of UNO’s participation is not necessarily to win; it is to receive constructive feedback about employee engagement. Research has shown that engaged employees tend to stay with their employers longer, serve customers more effectively, and help contribute toward a more effective organization. Survey questions inquire about several aspects of the workplace, including: morale, environment, satisfaction, opportunities, management and co-workers.
How will survey information be collected?
All eligible employees (regular full-time, .8 FTE or greater) will receive a confidential email on Jan. 4 inviting them to complete the survey via a secure website. The survey will take less than fifteen minutes to complete. Employees may be eligible to receive a paper survey if they do not have internet access.
Can an employee take the survey more than once?
It is important that each employee complete only one survey. Employees are encouraged to read each item.
Will information from my company be confidential?
Yes. An external/local organization (Quantum Workplace) will compile information and will not share origin of data with employers. Quantum has worked for many years with local companies and has a superb reputation for handling confidential data. UNO will receive no identifying information that ties employees’ names to survey results.
Will the results of the survey be shared with faculty and staff?
Yes. Each participating employer will receive customized survey results that provide important feedback. That information will be reviewed, then shared in the spring at informational meetings on campus, similar to meetings that were conducted after the 2015 survey.
