Flag Lowering for Gabriela Lemus-Cancino

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, in memory of UNO student Gabriela "Gaby" Lemus-Cancino.
Lemus-Cancino passed away Sunday, July 16, and was 19 years old at the time of her death. Her passing came after a months-long battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held on July 22.
A sophomore at UNO, Lemus-Cancino was a pre-secondary education major and was working to become a math teacher. She was a member of Project Achieve and the Thompson Learning Community.
Lemus-Cancino is survived by her parents; siblings Elias Lemus-Cancino, Alejandro Lemus-Cancino, Vanessa Lemus-Cancino, Fatima Lemus-Cancino; and boyfriend Jimmy Nguen.
