Starting this month, UNO will now have collection sites for the Hefty® EnergyBag™ program. This city-wide initiative is designed to divert hard-to-recycle plastics from the landfill and instead convert them into energy. For more information about the program and what can be accepted, click here. Please note, this program is designed to recover plastics not accepted in UNO’s regular recycling program. Please still place recyclable plastics in the nearest recycling receptacle.
The bright orange receptacles will be located in the Criss Library, Health & Kinesiology Building, Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, Milo Bail Student Center, Mammel Hall, and the Peter Kiewit Institute. In addition, any departments that have large events or will be receiving a shipment that will produce a large quantity of hard-to-recycle plastics can contact the Office of Sustainability to receive a supply of bags.
