UNO was awarded the 'Workplace Health Achievement' Bronze award and the "Workplace Health Solution Award" at the WELLCOM luncheon, Nov. 7.
UNO is proud to announce it will receive the Workplace Health Achievement Bronze award at the WELLCOM luncheon on Nov. 7.
Esther Scarpello, Benefits Manager, has been instrumental in leading the efforts to meet the requirements for the American Diabetes Association-Health Champion Award as well as the AMA Workplace Health Solution Award.
The purpose of the American Diabetes Association – Health Champion Award, is to recognize companies and organizations that integrate and champion a culture of wellness within the workplace. UNO had to meet criteria in the areas of nutrition and weight management, physical activity and organizational well-being. One requirement is that the organization be smoke free so this was the first year that UNO was eligible to apply for the award.
In order to receive the American Heart Association – Workplace Health Solution Award, applicants must complete the Workplace Health Achievement Index which is a scored assessment based on best practices that comprehensively evaluates the culture, structure, processes and outcomes of the workplace health program. The seven structure and performance measures are in the areas of:
- Leadership
- Policies and Environment
- Communications
- Programs
- Engagement
- Partnerships and
- Reporting Outcomes
UNO was also recognized last year when it was awarded the Nebraska Governor’s Wellness Award at the 2016 WELLCOM luncheon.
