UNO’s Staff Advisory Council and the UNO Bookstore are teaming up to support the Salvation Army and KETV Newswatch 7 to help contribute to the "7 Can Help Kids Back-to School Backpack Program".
Funds are raised to purchase pencil erasers that go into the backpacks that are distributed to kids all across the Omaha Metro Area each fall before school starts.
UNO students, faculty, and staff can help when they visit the UNO Bookstore. Just let the cashier know you want to donate! Each $1 will purchase erasers for 5 kids.
While you’re there, check out our progress chart to see how close we are to meeting our goal of providing erasers for 7,000 kids! Being prepared for the first day of school sets a child on the right path for learning and having a good year. Every year, the Salvation Army’s Back to School Backpack Program provides thousands of children with backpacks and school supplies. Thanks to the generosity of the community, more than 175,000 children have been helped since the program began in 1998.
