World-Herald Highlights NBDC’s $496.5 Million Total Economic Impact

A Jan. 26 Omaha World-Herald article highlighted the Nebraska Business Development Center’s multimillion dollar economic impact.
A new analysis from UNO Economics Department Chair Chris Decker found that the NBDC, which is housed at UNO, helped Nebraska businesses create or retain an estimated 1,858 jobs directly in Nebraska in 2017. This ultimately resulted in a $496.5 million economic boost to Nebraska’s economy, supporting 3,221 total jobs.
The impact report shows job creation by businesses throughout the state, through direct, indirect and induced jobs, tracing economic transactions through businesses’ supply chains.
The NBDC offers a range of services to support the growth and success of Nebraska businesses, including business plan development, cash flow analysis, access to capital, market research, business valuation, increasing top-line performance through exporting or government contracting services, technology commercialization services, and business and manufacturing operations consulting.
