University of Nebraska Board of Regents Chairman Rob Schafer and Vice Chairman Tim Clare sent the message to all members of the Legislature in anticipation of debate on the state budget next week. The budget package advanced by the Appropriations Committee reduces the University’s 2018-19 cut from the $23 million originally proposed to about $6 million.
President Hank Bounds has applauded Chairman John Stinner and the Committee for making higher education and the University’s 53,000 students a priority.
The letter follows Tuesday's I Love NU Advocacy Day at the Nebraska State Capitol Building, when students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members visited their senators and shared their stories.
