Owen says she looks forward to continuing to serve the University of Nebraska at the Buffett Institute by helping to advance its vision of Nebraska becoming the best place in the nation to be a baby.
Owen has led University Communications since its founding in 2013. Under her leadership, the office has established collaborations with campus partners and grown the number of integrated marketing and communication services available to campus.
“Erin’s collaborative leadership has touched everything from redesigning unomaha.edu to handling crises on campus; from developing a streamlined brand guideline to welcoming VIP visitors, such as President Barack Obama,” Senior Vice Chancellor BJ Reed said. “We will miss Erin, but I know she will always be a Maverick.”
During her tenure at UNO, Owen has been honored with a University of Nebraska Kudos Commendation award, an induction into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and numerous marketing/communications awards recognizing content created by University Communications staff under her guidance and leadership.
This summer, Owen will also begin pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Writing through UNO’s Writer’s Workshop.
“I love being a Maverick, and I cannot wait to be a graduate student and become an alumna,” Owen said. “Leaving my position at UNO is bittersweet, but I am very excited to join the team at the Buffett Institute in August and help make Nebraska the best place in the nation to be a baby. The amazing UComm team is poised and ready for a great 2018-2019 school year.”
University Communications leadership transition plans will be shared with the campus as soon as they are finalized.
