The replacement of two fire hydrants on the Dodge Campus will affect pedestrian and vehicle traffic, as well as domestic water access to some buildings, between Monday, July 9, and Monday, July 16.
The two hydrant replacements will take place just north of the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center (CEC) and near the main entrance of the Sapp Fieldhouse with each replacement expected to take two days each. The hydrant north of the CEC will be replaced between Monday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 11, followed by the hydrant near the Sapp Fieldhouse beginning immediately after.
During the replacement of the first hydrant, the Criss Library café and restrooms on the north side of the building will be without water and closed. The Criss Library café will remain closed through Monday, July 16, as additional interior repairs take place.
Water service to the CEC should not be impacted. The replacement will also close the walkway leading from the CEC to Lot M; pedestrian traffic from Lot M should take alternative routes until it is reopened. Individuals with accessibility needs should use the CEC and the lower entrance of the Criss Library to access the west side of campus. Water should return to the Criss Library no later than the July 11.
During the replacement of the second hydrant, the access road between Allwine Hall and the Fieldhouse will be restricted to one lane as part of the road will need to be excavated. There will be no impact to domestic water access for the Sapp Fieldhouse during this time. Replacement of the hydrant should be completed by Friday, July 13, with road repairs being completed by Monday, July 16.
