Effective Sunday, July 29, changes will be made to how users access UNO’s virtual private network (VPN).
Last year, in order to enhance user data protection from any malicious or unauthorized access UNO added two-factor authentication through the use of the DUO account management system for its VPN. This effort is now being managed by OneIT through TrueYou DUO.
These changes are being made to simplify DUO account management and to provide Duo Two-Factor authentication protection to more University Services. All UNO faculty, staff and students who are currently signed up for the Omaha VPN Duo system, and anyone needing VPN access in the future, will need to be enrolled in TrueYou DUO.
Enrolling in TrueYou DUO will also add Duo Two-Factor authentication and protection to university services such as Firefly, Mavlink, Box, Canvas, and others. Earlier this year, all faculty and staff were provided the optional step of enrolling in TrueYou DUO to protect their personal information and university information while using these services.
You can currently register with DUO online at http://trueyou.nebraska.edu. To do so, log in with your TrueYou username and password and click Manage TrueYou DUO Two-Factor Devices. From there you will be provided with instructions on how to register for TrueYou DUO.
If you do not know your TrueYou username or password, please utilize the TrueYou self-service page.
Please note that after you enroll here you will begin using DUO when logging into services such as Firefly, Mavlink, Box, Canvas and GMav, immediately.
Current users of Yubikey Tokens with the Omaha VPN will need to stop by the UNO Helpdesk after July 29 to have their token reconfigured.
Additional information and instructions about the TrueYou DUO transition can be found at https://www.unomaha.edu/information-technology-services/information-security/duo/vpn-trueyou-migration.php.
