- UNO and Senator Hagel hosted the 2nd annual Chuck Hagel Symposium in Public Service on the UNO campus, Oct. 17, 2018.
- The symposium is open to area high school students and teaches them the importance of public service, not only on a national level, but a local level.
- Those in public service owe it to the community and future generations to inform and engage them about leadership, their future and things that will be important for them going forward.
- A leader's job is to leave the institution you came from better than you found it.
- Public service is a noble work, it's fulfilling, important; free societies depend on it.
