Dear Colleagues,
We have been disheartened to see the recent distribution of racist literature in several locations across our city. This includes at UNO and at UNMC, as well as several other neighborhoods.
We are dismayed to have this kind of hate strike so close to home. But, also see this as an opportunity to stand up for our values.
We condemn this messaging in the strongest terms.
Let me be clear: We at UNO are committed to an atmosphere of inclusivity. This inclusivity extends to everyone – be they employees, students or visitors to our campus. We all are a part of the Maverick Community. Together, we are always better.
If you see any threatening activity on our campuses, please reach out to Public Safety. If you need support, or just to be heard, I urge you to not hesitate in seeking counseling resources (such as Counseling and Psychological Services and the Employee Assistance Program) or to reach out to leadership. We are here, and listening.
Today, we all stand together as UNO.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.
Chancellor
