James Kamm has been named the University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) new assistant vice chancellor for business and finance. He began his role earlier this month.
A UNO alumnus, earning his MBA in 1994, Kamm brings more than 30 years of financial services experience to the position. He most recently served as senior vice president for First Westroads Bank of Omaha, which he began in 2010.
As assistant vice chancellor, Kamm oversees the finance, grants accounting, auxiliary services, business technology systems and cashiering/student accounts units.
"Jim comes to UNO from an extensive banking background with strong ties to the University of Nebraska system," explained Doug Ewald, MPA, vice chancellor for business, finance and business development. "He is a true Maverick and is already hitting the ground running as he fills this vital position for our team."
In addition to his time at First Westroads, Kamm has served in leadership positions at banks in Columbus, Neb., and Omaha, including nearly 16 years at First National Bank of Omaha. He has also served on more than a dozen community boards and committees, including the Nebraska Bankers Association's Education Advisory Committee, the City of Columbus Business Improvement District, the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and Completely KIDS. Most recently he’s been active as a Boys Town Booster and as a Teammates mentor.
“I’m very excited to be joining UNO at this important time in the University’s rich history. My passion for the community, the state, and the university system runs deep and I’m honored to have this opportunity at this point in my professional career.”
Kamm has a previous tie to UNO, serving as an adjunct instructor in the College of Business Administration in 2018.
A native of Columbus, Kamm earned his bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also completed the Stonier Graduate School of Banking program at Georgetown University and, in 2018, served as an adjunct instructor in the College of Business Administration.
