UNO Names Cara Ortega Employee of the Month

Cara Ortega, Associate Registrar within the Office of the University Registrar, was recently named UNO’s Employee of the Month for October.

The Celebration Committee surprised Cara with the award and refreshments on Oct. 2, 2019.

Cara was nominated by her peers for her knowledge and approachability.

They said, “It’s obvious that Cara has a firm understanding of our systems and the data structures. It is this knowledge, combined with her experience as an academic advisor, that makes her an exceptional partner.”

They continue, “She is the epitome of “go with the flow” with a positive outlook and solution-focused approach to problems. As a strong collaborator, she strives to make things better for our campus colleagues and our students. Cara is not only an asset to the Registrar’s office, but to the entire campus.”

For being nominated as Employee of the Month, Cara will receive a certificate, lapel pin, hot/cold tumbler, portrait, monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event and use of a designated parking space. The Staff Advisory Council congratulated Cara by providing snacks and fare for the Employee of the Month to enjoy with peers and department members in celebration.
