Sam Peshek, a news and editorial content strategist, joins the Office of University Communications as its new Director of Editorial and Media Relations. He begins his new role today, Monday, Dec. 16.
Peshek comes to UNO from Texas A&M's University Division of Marketing & Communications where he served first as a communications coordinator and most recently as a communications manager. In his time there, Peshek developed strategies that increased engagement across existing storytelling platforms and launched efforts on new multimedia platforms including a podcast series and an Apple News channel. He also led daily media outreach and engagement operations to highlight university news, feature stories, research and faculty expertise through local, state, national and international outlets.
In his new role at UNO, Peshek will oversee internal and external communications that both protect and promote the brand of UNO locally, nationally, and around the globe. University Communications Executive Director Makayla McMorris looks forward to seeing how Peshek can bring his vision for strategic communications and editorial content to UNO.
“Sam’s experience in strategic storytelling within higher education will undoubtedly prove to be an asset that boosts the efforts of UNO's Office of University Communications and, ultimately, strengthens the reputation and perception of the university as a whole,” McMorris said.
Peshek, a Kearney, Nebraska native, earned a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
