The latest rankings of online programs by U.S. News & World Report names the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) among the nation’s best.
For the fourth year in a row, UNO’s Master of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice degree program was ranked among the top five nationally by U.S. News & World Report. The publication’s 2020 Best Online Programs Rankings, released on Tuesday, Jan. 14, evaluated online programs based on scores in categories such as engagement, faculty credentials and training, expert opinions, and student excellence.
John Bartle, dean of UNO’s College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS), praised the program’s track record for excellence.
"This ranking is well deserved. We have outstanding faculty, our curriculum is practical, and we prepare students for the future, not the past. When you marry quality with relevance and affordability you have a winning combination."
Gaylene Armstrong, director of UNO’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, said that the ranking speaks to the close ties between the university and the greater Omaha community.
“We partner closely with our community and criminal justice agencies to ensure we are providing classes with relevant content that will advance the careers of our graduates,” Armstrong said. “This notable ranking speaks to the hard work of our faculty and staff, close relationships with alumni, and strong leadership and program support from the college and broader university campus leadership.”
UNO’s online Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS) also received recognition by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top online undergraduate programs in the nation. The degree program offers two pathways and over 35 concentrations to help students launch their careers or prepare for graduate school.
The nationally-ranked BMS degree is part of UNO’s Division of Continuing Studies. With a generous transfer credit policy that highly values military experience and prior education, DCS has helped adult and contemporary learners find their path toward a degree for over 80 years.
