Each year, UNO celebrates excellence and faculty achievement by selecting a small group from among the hundreds of scholars, educators, mentors, and leaders across campus to be recognized for their key contributions to the institution and the academy.
Recently, five faculty were identified, following nominations from their students, colleagues, and academic units, for their outstanding contributions to academic learning; research and creative activity; service learning; and global engagement.
Another 14 faculty members were also recognized with named chairs or professorships, which recognize a sustained record of academic excellence.
"The heartbeat of any higher education institution can be found within the dedication, innovation, and resiliency of its faculty," said Sacha Kopp, Ph.D., senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. "These individuals, and the impact they've made on our students' lives, in their respective fields, and in our global community, speaks to the true excellence of our institution as a leading metropolitan university."
Each award recipient will be recognized through a formal, on-campus celebration in the fall. More details about the awards and awardees will be shared at that time.
