Remembering Janette Sojka

The Maverick community is mourning the loss of UNO retiree Janette Sojka, a former office assistant for the Milo Bail Student Center, who passed away on July 13, 2020, at the age of 68.
Sojka began her university career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln working for the UNL Athletic Department before moving to UNO in 2001. She retired from UNO in 2008.
Sojka is survived by her mother, Beverly Jankowski; her husband, Bruno; her son Jason; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Karol Jankowski, and her brother, Bob.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7, at 6 P.M., at the St. Thomas More Church in Omaha with a funeral mass scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, at 10:30 A.M., also at St. Homas More.
A flag lowering will take place on campus at a later date.
