Skyler Brooke, assistant director of Strength, Conditioning, and Fitness for UNO Campus Recreation, has been named UNO's Employee of the Month for August.
Brooke was surprised by UNO's Celebration Committee on Monday, Aug. 17.
Among the areas Brooke was noted for in his nomination was the leadership he showed in ensuring that the students, faculty, staff, and guests who rely on Campus Recreation could still make use of the staff's expertise through virtual training videos.
"Everything about his work during the COVID-19 timeframe defines adaptability. He has taken programs that require person-to-person contact and created such a wonderful and successful remote access approach that we are anticipating continuation to some extent even after we are all allowed to re-engage with each other," his nomination letter states.
Brooke's knowledge and dedication to exploring new ideas have also inspired those who work with him.
"He has been able to rally his student staff to stay engaged and productive. Everything Skyler does is so someone else can succeed. He cares about his coworkers as well as every participant of Campus Recreation," his nominators say.
For being nominated as Employee of the Month, Brooke will receive a certificate, lapel pin, hot/cold tumbler, portrait, monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event and use of a designated parking space.
To nominate an employee, complete the nomination form and send it to Kristina Hoffmann at kristinahoffmann@unomaha.edu.
