On Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved a new Student Code of Conduct for the NU system, including UNO.
The new Code of Conduct reflects a more student and reader-friendly approach and includes new examples of behaviors that may be in violation of expectations and standards that come with being a student on one of the NU system's four campuses.
Additionally, the Code of Conduct provides clear outlines of conduct processes and rights of students.
These changes reflect a year-long effort led by the conduct officers from each campus in the NU system. The final version of the new Code of Conduct was reviewed by students, faculty, and staff at UNO, UNL, UNK and UNMC, prior to the approval of the Board of Regents on Friday.
"When we say that the University of Nebraska is a single, student-focued university with multiple campuses, this is an example of that vision," explained Trent Fredrickson, UNO assistant dean for conduct and resident life. "This new joint policy will be a significant step forward in offering clarity and support for our students and all 51,000-plus students across the system."
