Angie Centarri, Academic Advisor in the Department of Psychology, was recently named the "Awesome Advisor" by the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Academic Advising Council (AAC) for the month of September. Angie was nominated by her peers for her dedication to student success.
The award was presented to Angie at the monthly AAC meeting on Sept. 17.
Her nominator said, "Angie has only been at UNO for a little over 8 months, but she has brought with her an incredible attitude of service to students. She is flexible and creative in her troubleshooting sessions with students, but also excels in planning down to the detail for their academic goals. Beyond the day to day advising duties, Angie frequently asks how she can be of help to the College office, asking if there are projects we need help with. She even took on a volunteer project of putting together a plan and resources to allow the College advisors to learn Advising as Coaching techniques, simply because she knew she could be of help. Whether taking responsibility for the recruitment, retention, or graduation of her students, or helping with projects for the College office, Angie brings enthusiasm, humor, and excellence. The Psychology students and the College of Arts and Sciences are so grateful to have Angie on our teams!"
For being nominated as the AAC Awesome Advisor, Angie will receive a certificate and gift card.
Nominate an Advisor for the "Awesome Advisor Award"
If you know one of your colleagues has gone above and beyond in their exceptional service to students, their colleagues and/or the university, nominate them for the Awesome Advisor Award! Each month, one advisor will be selected at random from the nominations to receive the award at the Academic Advising Council meeting. All nominees will be recognized by AAC for their work.
Nominees must be at least .5 FTE whose primary role is academic advising. Once selected, advisors would not be eligible to receive the award again for one calendar year, although they can still be nominated in recognition of their work.
To nominate an academic advisor, complete the nomination form on the AAC website.
