The Division of Student Success is pleased to announce that Jessi Hitchins, Ph.D., has been named the new Senior Director for Student Life.
Hitchins has been at UNO since 2015 serving as the founding Director for the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC). In that role, she has designed, orchestrated, and implemented programs and services for women and gender justice, LGBTQIA2S+ peoples, and campus-based interpersonal violence victim and survivor advocacy. Hitchins has also been an active collaborator with campus and community partners to develop and implement comprehensive strategies, programs, and services designed to address gender and sexual based inequities in the campus and Omaha community.
“We are so fortunate to have Jessi stepping into this new role. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help us continue to grow and elevate our programming in a way that supports student engagement and development,” shared Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Success Kristina Cammarano.
Hitchins' new elevated role will include oversight over the functional areas of student involvement programming, service and volunteerism programming (The Collaborative), spirit and tradition programming, and the Milo Bail Student Center operations in addition to her continuing her work with the GSRC.
These areas will all make up the new Office of Student Life which was established as a part of the Division’s restructure this past summer. In bringing together these units under one umbrella with Hitchins' leadership, the goal is to enhance our support of students in the co-curriculum and build upon the past successes of these areas.
Please join us on congratulating Jessi Hitchins on her new role.
