Summer Mueller, Advisor for the Health Careers Resource Center was recently named the “Awesome Advisor” by the Academic Advising Council (AAC) for the month of January.
The award was presented to Summer at the monthly AAC meeting on Jan. 21.
Her nominator said, “I was nervous about starting a position completely virtually. I would not get to meet with colleagues in person, attend any in person trainings/shadowing, or really get to spend any time in our office. Summer made my transition to the team seamless. She took the time to meet with me via zoom constantly, even if it was just to answer a question or two. She reviewed processes and procedures, let me shadow her anytime I asked, answered question after question, and still found time to make me feel part of the team. Summer went above and beyond to help me get onboarded to my role. She does the same for every student she comes into contact with, she makes sure their needs are met and that they feel empowered about their next steps and plan. She is an awesome advisor and colleague, and it is a privilege to work with her.”
For being nominated as the AAC Awesome Advisor, Mueller will receive a certificate and gift card to the UNO Bookstore.
Nominate an Advisor for the "Advisor of the Month Award"
If you know one of your colleagues has gone above and beyond in their exceptional service to students, their colleagues and/or the university, nominate them for the Advisor of the Month Award! Each month, one advisor will be selected at random from the nominations to receive the award at the Academic Advising Council meeting. All nominees will be recognized by AAC for their work.
Nominees must be at least .5 FTE whose primary role is academic advising. Once selected, advisors would not be eligible to receive the award again for one calendar year, although they can still be nominated in recognition of their work. To nominate an academic advisor, complete the nomination form on the AAC website.
