Rachael Jensen, director of Youth Safety, has been named UNO's Employee of the Month for April 2021.
Jensen was surprised by UNO's virtual Celebration Committee on Tuesday, April 13.
In her nomination letter, Jensen was lauded for taking on a new and elevated role beginning in October 2020 when the Office of Health Security was formed. With on-campus youth events largely halted, Jensen stepped in to support the campus-wide effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 and help keep campus safe.
"Rachael consistently maintains a positive attitude and continues to ask if there is anything else she can do to help others on campus," her nomination letter reads.
She did all this, her nominators say, while still focusing on her Youth Safety duties, making these important parts of campus life can eventually safely return.
"Her leadership in the area of youth safety has been critically important to improving many campus processes and practices," her letter reads.
All of this and more is why her nominators say Jensen "definitely has the Maverick Spirit" and deserving of being recognized as Employee of the Month.
For being nominated as Employee of the Month, Jensen will receive a certificate, hot/cold tumbler, monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event and use of a designated parking space.
To nominate an employee, complete the nomination form and send it to Kristina Hoffmann at kristinahoffmann@unomaha.edu.
