Dozens of graduate and undergraduate students across UNO were recognized Thursday, April 22, for their achievements in the 2020-2021 academic year at the virtual 2021 Student Honors Convocation.
“Congratulations to each and every one of you, and thank you for being a part of the Maverick family,” UNO Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., said during the virtual event.
Outgoing Student Body President and Student Regent Jabin Moore commended his peers for the resilience they displayed during the past year.
“Your hard work deserves to be celebrated under any circumstance, but what makes this moment extra special, is that through perseverance, dedication, and determination, you have managed to excel in one of the toughest times in our nation’s history,” Moore said.
Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Sacha Kopp, Ph.D., told the group of honorees that the future is bright.
“We are a community of Mavericks – independent thinkers, explorers, risk takers – and today we honor those students who truly embody this spirit,” Kopp said. “The students we honor today perform at a noteworthy level of excellence because of their self-discipline, diligence, skills, and creativity. We are confident that they will continue to push the boundaries and strive for success in all they do.”
